Why did Jesus choose Peter, James and John instead of say Thomas, Nathaniel and Phillip?

Remember the Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh?

The Infant Jesus was given these gifts by the three Kings, the three Astrologers, the three Wisemen, the three Magi...to represent the GOLD of a king; the FRANKINCENSE of prayer; the MYRRH of suffering...PETER as POPE represents the Church... FRANKINCENSE...John as EVANGELIST represents the Word of God... GOLD...James as FIRST MARTYRED AMONG THE APOSTLES represents Martyrdom...
